Gilles Giacca is an Associate in the Litigation & Arbitration Team of Walder Wyss in Geneva, specializing in international arbitration. He acts as counsel in international commercial disputes and as secretary to arbitral tribunals in institutional and ad hoc proceedings.
Before joining Walder Wyss in 2020, Gilles Giacca worked in the field of public international law over 12 years. He worked as Teaching Assistant and Research Fellow at the University of Geneva, and subsequently at Oxford University, where he coordinated its human rights programme. He then served for several years as Legal Adviser in an international organization where he advised States on arms trade, new technologies and cyber warfare, providing also legal training to diplomats, military officers and other government officials.
Gilles Giacca has published extensively on international law issues. His Ph.D. in law (summa cum laude) was awarded the Francis Lieber Prize by the American Society of International Law (2014). He obtained a master’s degree in law from the University of Geneva and an LL.M. degree in international law from Essex University. He was admitted to the Geneva Bar in August 2020.
Gilles Giacca works in French, English and Italian. He also has passive knowledge of German.
