Currently, healthcare providers such as hospitals are required to submit health-related personal data on a regular basis. This includes information on the type, scope and costs of the services provided, and is submitted to various bodies for different purposes. In the future, health-related personal data is to be collected on a single occasion for administrative purposes, with the objective of reducing workload, costs and errors. To this end, the Health Insurance Act (Bundesgesetz über die Krankenversicherung, KVG) is to be amended. The Federal Council has submitted the corresponding message to Parliament.
