Daniel Zimmerli is a managing associate in the Information Technology, Intellectual Property and Competition Team. His preferred areas of practice cover Antitrust Law, Administrative Law, Economic Constitutional Law as well as Administrative Procedure. He has an in-depth knowledge of the infrastructure (telecommunications, energy, public transport, postal services) and the healthcare sector. He advises and represents clients both in courts and before administrative bodies.

Daniel Zimmerli was educated at the University of Berne (lic. iur. 1998; Dr. iur. 2006) and at the University of Michigan Law School (Ann Arbor, USA; LL.M. 2007). He gained working experience as a teaching and research assistant at the University of Berne, as a scientific collaborator at the Swiss Competition Commission, as an attorney at a Bernese law firm and as an attorney at the legal department of Swiss Post.

Daniel Zimmerli speaks German, French and English. He is registered with the Zurich Bar Registry and admitted to practice in all Switzerland.

Flokk AS acquires Giroflex

Flokk AS, formerly known as Scandinavian Business Seating AS, a portfolio company of the Triton Fund IV, acquired all shares in Giroflex – Holding AG, incl. all its legal entities.

Giroflex is the Swiss producer of perfectly structured, high quality and ergonomic swivel, conference and visitor chairs – seating, tailored to the human anatomy. Giroflex products are available around the world via branch sales offices in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands as well as via international licensees and sales partners.

Walder Wyss AG has advised Flokk AS as Swiss legal advisor in this transaction and was coordinating all foreign counsels. The team was led by Urs P. Bregal Unternehmerkapital new growth partner of Embassy Jewel AG

Bregal Unternehmerkapital has acquired a majority stake in Embassy Jewel AG, a retail company specializing in luxury watches and jewelry. Headquartered in Lucerne, Embassy Jewel AG has grown steadily since its foundation in 1970 and is today, with its attractively located stores in Lucerne, the Swiss watch capital, and St. Moritz, among the five largest retail companies in this sector. With its new partner Bregal Unternehmerkapital, Embassy Jewel AG plans to make further investments to strengthen the branch network and the in-store infrastructure.

EQT Acquires Open Systems

The EQT Mid Market Europe Fund acquires a majority stake in Open Systems AG from its current private owners who will remain invested.

Open Systems was founded in 1990. Since then the company grew consistently sustainable and transitioned from a security integrator into one of the largest Security as a Service providers in Europe. Open Systems is headquartered in Zurich and active in more than 180 countries.

Mercury Systems, a NASDAQ listed leading commercial provider of secure processing subsystems, acquires the Swiss mission computing company Creative Electronic Systems (CES).

Statkraft Ventures invests into Swiss Smart Grid Solution Company DEPsys

Statkraft Ventures GmbH led a Series-A financing round with participation of VNT Management and One Creation. In this round the Swiss start-up DEPsys raised CHF 3 million in total.

Statkraft Ventures GmbH regularly invests in promising start-ups in the energy sector. DEPsys’ smart grid solutions monitors and controls the network in real-time to stabilize the system, secure the supply and optimize the energy flow using intelligent algorithms.
