Patrick W. Vogel is a partner with Walder Wyss. He specializes in corporate law, as well as in banking and finance. He advises domestic and foreign companies on mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions. With an education in both business and economics (HEC Lausanne) and law, he began his career by working for several years as an associate in the busy corporate finance departments of two pre-eminent US law firms in New York.

Patrick Vogel has advised numerous clients on cross-border transactions – in particular private acquisitions and sales, mergers, asset transfers and acquisition financings. His practice also covers collective investments, private placements, asset management and regulatory matters for Swiss and foreign banks and financial institutions.

Patrick’s dedication to getting the details right has not gone unnoticed: 'He’s extremely hard-working; he works through the night and all weekend to meet a deadline' (Chambers Global 2012). Chambers Europe and Chambers Global have ranked him for many years in a row as a leader in the field of banking and finance. In 2013, The Legal 500 Switzerland recognized Patrick as an expert in the field of corporate finance.

Patrick W. Vogel holds a degree in economics and business from HEC Lausanne, University of Lausanne (lic. oec., 1990), as well as a law degree from the University of Geneva, Faculty of Law (lic. iur., 1993), where he graduated first in his class and received two prizes (Prix Huet du Pavillon, and the Geneva Society of Law and Legislation Prize), and a Master of Laws in Corporate Law (LL.M., 1999) from New York University School of Law.

Patrick W. Vogel’s working languages are English and French. He was admitted to the Swiss Bar in 1996 and to the New York Bar in 1999. He is a member of the Geneva Bar Association, the Swiss Bar Association and the International Bar Association (IBA). He is a member of the agda (Association genevoise de droit des affaires).
