15 July 2022 – Private individuals can now report suspected cases of adverse drug reactions to Swissmedic using a web form. The evaluation of suspected adverse reaction reports is an important factor in continuously monitoring the safety of medical products. Medical professionals are obliged by the Therapeutic Products Act (TPA) to report serious or yet unknown adverse reactions to Swissmedic. Patients, relatives or interested third parties can also report adverse reactions and incidents electronically to Swissmedic, even without specialist medical knowledge. The new online form for adverse reaction reports by private individuals ensures secure transmission of the data.
