22 October 2025 – Shortages of medicinal products are increasing both globally and in Switzerland. The Federal Council has already taken measures to strengthen supply security. In addition, an expert group has been commissioned to examine further short-term measures. The group concluded that trade barriers must be reduced, e.g. through simplifying approval procedures or allowing foreign packaging. The results of the assessment have been summarised in a report submitted to the Federal Council. The competent departments are now reviewing these proposals.
