The Federal Council adopted and submitted to Parliament the message concerning the introduction of a new Electronic Health Record (Elektronisches Gesundheitsdossier, E-GD). The E-GD is intended to replace the current Electronic Patient Record (Elektronisches Patientendossier, EPD), which has seen limited use to date. Every person residing in Switzerland will automatically receive an E-GD. However, individuals may object to its creation. Overall, the E-GD is expected to offer numerous advantages, e.g., a greater number of healthcare providers will be required to use it.
