The Federal Council has approved a report stressing the need to strengthen care and support for people with dementia as their numbers are expected to rise sharply in the coming decades. While existing funding tools and regulations are considered largely adequate, the report nonetheless recommends several improvements. It also highlights the high use of psychotropic medication in dementia care and calls for more cautious prescribing.
