FOPH: Federal Council Publishes Report on Inflation in the Healthcare System

14 January 2026

The Swiss Federal Council adopted a report on how inflation is taken into account in the healthcare system. It concluded that current legislation does not provide for an automatic inflation adjustment of tariffs in compulsory health insurance. Instead, tariff partners are expected to negotiate suitable agreements within the existing legal framework that reflect cost developments, including inflation. The report also highlights uneven salary growth in the healthcare sector, with non-medical professions in particular experiencing weaker salary increases in recent years.
