All medicines covered under compulsory health insurance are included by the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) in the List of Pharmaceutical Specialties (Spezialitätenliste, SL). The FOPH reports that in 2025, it processed 202 applications for significant amendments to this list, resulting in the approval of 39 new medicines and 52 additional indications. To support supply security, the authority also authorised price increases for 14 medicines and refrained from imposing price reductions in 120 cases.
