FOPH: Cost Containment Package 2: Federal Council Opens Consultation on Medical Products Sector

The cost containment program, which consists of two packages, aims to curb the rise in healthcare costs covered by compulsory health insurance. Package 2 comprises several amendments to the Health Insurance Act (Bundesgesetz über die Krankenversicherung, KVG) and several ordinances. These amendments include, for example, a volume discount on medicinal products with high sales and a modernisation of the price-setting process. The Federal Council has initiated the consultation process for the relevant amendments to the Ordinance on Health Insurance (Verordnung über die Krankenversicherung, KVV) and the Ordinance on Healthcare Benefits (Krankenpflege-Leistungsverordnung, KLV).
