The Federal Council approved a report clarifying roles in the prevention of chronic diseases within the healthcare system. The report finds that the existing legal framework provides stakeholders, especially cantons, with sufficient scope to strengthen health prevention programmes and highlights the growing importance of prevention in response to demographic shifts and rising prevalence of chronic diseases. Furthermore, the Federal Council presented five strategic recommendations to secure the long-term sustainability of prevention efforts, such as strengthening nationwide coordination.
