FOPH: Switzerland proposes extension of integrity provisions to medical devices

The Federal Council has launched a consultation on amendments to the Ordinance on Integrity and Transparency in the Therapeutic Products Sector (Verordnung über die Integrität und Transparenz im Heilmittelbereich, VITH), extending integrity rules from prescription medicines to medical devices. The changes aim to ensure that the prescription, supply and use of medical devices are based solely on medical considerations and remain free from financial incentives. Certain low-risk products and devices intended for self-use without professional advice will be exempt from the rules. The consultation will run until 25 August 2026.
