From May 2026, clinical trial applications involving medicinal products in categories B and C that have received prior Swissmedic confirmation for accelerated review will also be assessed on an expedited basis by the competent ethics committee. To enable this harmonised FAST-Track process, applicants must indicate the Swissmedic FAST-Track procedure when submitting the clinical trial application via the BASEC portal. With this harmonised accelerated procedure, participants of clinical trials will benefit from the possibility to be faster enrolled into the authorised clinical trials.
