13 janvier 2023 – Because of the circulation of Omicron variants of Covid-19 in China, the Swiss Federal Council has discussed whether testing is required. Due to the high level of protection of people in Switzerland (vaccinated or previously infected), people entering the country from China do not pose an increased risk. Moreover, the Omicron variants are already common in Switzerland. The virus circulation in Switzerland is currently so high that a testing obligation for the few arrivals from China would not have a significant impact on the virus’s current spread in Switzerland. However, the situation and the development are constantly monitored and travellers to and from China are to be informed more about hygiene measures.
