1 September 2016 – In July 2016 the European Commission formally adopted the EU-US Privacy Shield (see our news 13.07.2016).

The European Commission has now published a short Guide to the EU-US Privacy Shield (see here). Amongst other things, the guide describes on a high level basis the obligations of a company that has self-certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield and the rights of the data subjects under the Privacy Shield. It also explains the possibilities for data subjects of bringing complaints against a company that has self-certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield and/or against a US public authority.
