Monkeypox vaccine: Federal government signs contract with manufacturing company
21 October 2022 – The Swiss government has signed a contract with Bavarian Nordic for the supply of monkeypox vaccine doses. 40,000 doses will be used to contain the spread of monkeypox. The first doses will be delivered by early November, with the remaining doses delivered by the end of the year. The live vaccine, which is based on an attenuated smallpox virus, will be used primarily for people at increased risk. Another 60,000 doses have been procured for the armed forces. The corresponding delivery will take place in 2023.
