18 August 2023 – With a broad training offensive, the Federal Council wants to address the growing need in the nursing sector and thus quickly implement an important part of the initiative "For strong nursing care" (Pflegeinitiative). The training of nursing professionals is to be supported by the Confederation and the cantons with up to one billion Swiss francs over eight years. In addition, nursing professionals should be able to charge certain services directly to the social insurance funds. In addition, projects that promote efficiency in primary health care are to be supported with eight million francs for four years. At its meeting on 23 August 2023, the Federal Council sent the implementation provisions for consultation. The training offensive is to start in mid-2024.
