1 December 2023 – The Federal Council aims to improve the framework for managing future pandemics. For this purpose, at its meeting on 29 November 2023, the Federal Council initiated the consultation process for the revision of the Federal Act on Combating Communicable Human Diseases (EpidA). This partial revision aims to enable the federal government and cantons to protect the health of the population from future threats posed by communicable diseases or antibiotic resistance, and to timely implement corresponding prevention measures in close collaboration. The consultation period runs until 22 March 2024.
