29 March 2024 – The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has provided guidelines regarding the influenza virus strains that vaccine manufacturers should incorporate into vaccines for the prevention of seasonal influenza starting from autumn 2024.

Annually, the EMA issues recommendations within the EU concerning the formulation of seasonal influenza vaccines. These recommendations are derived from observations made by the World Health Organization (WHO), which are informed by ongoing monitoring efforts assessing the prevalence and attributes of various influenza viruses globally.
