The unification of the remuneration of nursing care material

11 décembre 2019 – The Federal Council intends to introduce a uniform remuneration for nursing care material throughout Switzerland. In the future, compulsory health care insurance companies will be exclusively responsible for financing the material, irrespective of whether it is used directly by patients, by a non-professional contributor or by a nurse. The omission of this distinction eliminates the administrative effort involved and reduces the risk that patients lose access to the necessary nursing care material in consequence of uncovered costs. The new regulation will result in an estimated additional expenditure of 65 million Swiss Francs per year for compulsory health care insurance companies. However, the Cantons and Municipalities will be relieved of the same amount. The regulation will be anchored in the Federal Health Care Insurance Act (Bundesgesetz über die Krankenversicherung; SR 832.10) The consultation will take place from 6 December 2019 to 6 February 2020.
