26 mai 2022 – The measures to optimise hospital financing and free choice of hospital are having an effect, but there is still further potential for improvement. This is the conclusion of the report “Potential for improvement in hospital financing and hurdles to free choice of hospital”, which the Federal Council adopted at its meeting on 25 May 2022. The report adopted by the Federal Council sets out the measures that have been taken to improve the implementation of the revised Swiss Federal Law on Health Insurance (Bundesgesetz über die Krankenversicherung, KVG). In addition, in fulfilment of a postulate adopted by Parliament, the report sets out which obstacles impair the free choice of hospital and how these can be removed.
