25 août 2023 – With the HTA programme, the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) has been checking since 2017 whether the services of the compulsory health insurance (obligatorische Krankenversicherung, OKP) are effective, appropriate and economical. This has resulted in annual savings of up to CHF 75 million. Further savings of around CHF 60 million per year are expected in the coming years. The evaluation of services also helps to improve the quality of care and treatment. The Federal Council took note of this interim assessment at its meeting on 30 August 2023.
