Federal Council promotes generics and access to essential medicines
22 septembre 2023 – At its meeting on 22 September 2023 the Federal Council approved revisions to the Ordinance on Health Insurance (HIO), the Ordinance on Healthcare Benefits (Krankenpflege-Leistungsverordnung, KLV) and the Ordinance on Medicinal Products (Arzneimittelverordnung, VAM). These revisions will allow faster access to essential medicines and improve the equal treatment of patients. In addition, the sale of generics and biosimilars will be promoted. These measures are expected to save 250 million Swiss francs annually. The revised regulations will enter into force on 1 January 2024.
