Implementation of the new Veterinary Medicines Regulation

18. Dezember 2019 – The new Veterinary Medicines Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2019/6) – applicable as of 28 January 2022 – will modernize the existing rules on the authorization and use of veterinary medicines in the EU. The main objectives of the new Regulation are: (i) to simplify the regulatory environment and to reduce administrative burden for pharmaceutical companies developing veterinary medicines, (ii) to stimulate the development of innovative veterinary medicines, (iii) to improve the functioning of the internal market for veterinary medicines, and (iv) to strengthen the EU action to fight antimicrobial resistance through specific measures ensuring prudent and responsible use of antimicrobials in animals.
