Protection of children and adolescents from tobacco advertising
2. September 2022 – After the adoption of the popular initiative "Yes to the protection of children and adolescents from tobacco advertising" on 13 February 2022, the Federal Law on Tobacco Products and Electronic Cigarettes must get revised. The draft the Federal Council has sent for consultation, provides a comprehensive advertising ban. The cigarettes industry may no longer sponsor events to which minors have access - this applies in particular to festivals. In addition, the Federal Council has decided to include reporting of tobacco advertising expenditure in the Tobacco Products Act as part of the revision.
