Swiss Federal Council Grants Privileges and Immunities to Justice Rapid Response
22. Dezember 2025
On 18 December 2025, the Swiss Federal Council and Justice Rapid Response (JRR) signed an agreement granting JRR privileges and immunities. This agreement recognises the strategic role JRR plays in promoting justice and accountability worldwide and further strengthens Switzerland’s position as a global hub for peace, justice, and human rights.
Founded fifteen years ago and headquartered in Geneva, JRR is the only global facility providing prompt, impartial, and professional expertise to investigate international crimes and serious human rights violations. The organisation works with international and regional justice and human rights mechanisms, national authorities, and civil society to ensure a holistic, gender-sensitive, and inclusive approach to justice processes. JRR is currently active in around 25 country situations worldwide, including Colombia, The Gambia, Ukraine, and Syria, and carries out approximately 90 expert deployments each year.
Walder Wyss is proud to have advised JRR in this process. The agreement represents an important milestone for the organisation, strengthening its operations in Geneva and enabling it to further advance its mission: ensuring that all victims and survivors of international crimes and grave human rights violations have access to justice.
The Walder Wyss team included Vincent Pfammatter (Philanthropy and International Organisations) and Alma Marchand (Public Law).
