5 luglio 2020 – At its meeting on 1 July 2020, the Federal Council approved the revision of the Ordinance on Medicinal Products (MepV) and the new Ordinance on Clinical Trials for Medicinal Products (KlinV-Mep). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the entry into force of the deviating provisions of the European Products Ordinance will be delayed and enter into force in Switzerland on 1 August 2020. The remaining provisions will not enter into force until 26 May 2021. Furthermore, the agreement on mutual recognition of conformity (MRA), which is regarded as an instrument for overcoming technical barriers to trade for the marketing of numerous industrial goods between Switzerland and the EU, is being updated.
