Tamedia is taking over the «Basler Zeitung»

17 April 2018 – Media group Tamedia purchases 100 percent of the shares in Basler Zeitung AG and is thereby taking over the «Basler Zeitung». In return Tamedia group sells its interests of 65 percent in the «Tagblatt der Stadt Zürich» to Zeitungshaus AG. Tamedia group also sells the free newspapers Furttaler» and «Rümlanger» (currently both 100 percent owned by Tamedia group) as well as its interests in «GHI» (Genève Home Information) and «Lausanne Cités» in the French-speaking part of Switzerland (currently both 50 percent owned by Tamedia group) to Zeitungshaus AG. The transactions are subject to the approval of the Competition Commission (WEKO).
