Reto Jacobs heads the Antitrust and Competition Team. He advises domestic and foreign companies with respect to all competition law issues, represents them before competition authorities and courts, and assists them in complex merger filings. Reto Jacobs advises also with respect to distribution systems and he supports various companies with respect to their antitrust compliance programs. He is lecturer at the University of St. Gall.

Born in 1964, Reto Jacobs was educated at the University of St. Gall (lic. iur. 1990, Dr. iur. 1997). He obtained an additional degree in European competition law from the University of Amsterdam (LL.M. 1993) and stayed as visiting scholar at the University of California at Berkeley.

Reto Jacobs speaks German, English and French. He is registered with the Zurich Bar Registry and admitted to practice in all Switzerland.

Aduno sells Vibbek

ADUNO SA sold its acquiring business to SIX Payment Services AG a few months ago. Due to the changed situation of its former business segment "Acquiring", Aduno Holding AG sold all its shares in Vibbek AG to its management.

Walder Wyss has advised Aduno Holding AG as legal advisor in this transaction. The team was led by Urs P. Who’s Who Legal names three Walder Wyss lawyers in its 2018 competition law survey

The 2018 Who’s Who Legal Competition Law survey results have been announced and features three Walder Wyss lawyers. Reto Jacobs is listed as Thought Leader 2018. He is “an excellent lawyer” according to sources, whose “outstanding” practice provides expert advice on areas such as merger filings and distribution systems. Monique Sturny is praised for her "impressive knowledge of both Swiss and EU competition law", and is considered the "leading practitioner in the intersection between competition and data protection law". She is named as Future Leader together with Gion Giger which is a "highly client-oriented and creative" lawyer who stands out for his "extensive experience of merger control and competition law issues related to distribution systems".


Walder Wyss advised 40 North in the acquisition and subsequent sale of shares in Clariant AG

White Tale Holdings LLP, a limited partnership comprising 40 North Latitude Master Fund Ltd. (40 North) and two Corvex funds as limited partners, and 40 North acquired a signficant stake in Clariant AG in the course of 2017 of which 24.99% were sold to Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) on 25 January 2018. As shareholders in Clariant, 40 North and White Tale successfully opposed the planned merger between Clariant and Huntsman Corp. in October 2017.

Walder Wyss acted as Swiss advisor to 40 North. Integer to Divest Advanced Surgical and Orthopedics Product Lines to MedPlast

Integer Holdings Corporation (Integer) (NYSE:ITGR), a leading medical device outsource manufacturer, has entered into an agreement to sell its Advanced Surgical and Orthopedics product lines to MedPlast, LLC, a leading global services provider to the medical device industry, for $600 million in cash. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2018 and is subject to customary closing conditions, including U.S. and foreign antitrust clearances.

Walder Wyss acts as Swiss advisor for Integer on this transaction. The Walder Wyss team includes Urs P. Tamedia is taking over the «Basler Zeitung»

Media group Tamedia purchases 100 percent of the shares in Basler Zeitung AG and is thereby taking over the «Basler Zeitung». In return Tamedia group sells its interests of 65 percent in the «Tagblatt der Stadt Zürich» to Zeitungshaus AG. Tamedia group also sells the free newspapers Furttaler» and «Rümlanger» (currently both 100 percent owned by Tamedia group) as well as its interests in «GHI» (Genève Home Information) and «Lausanne Cités» in the French-speaking part of Switzerland (currently both 50 percent owned by Tamedia group) to Zeitungshaus AG. The transactions are subject to the approval of the Competition Commission (WEKO).
