Michael Kündig studied at the University of Bern (MLaw). During his studies he worked as a research assistant with the Department of Banking Law at the University of Bern and in the legal department of a company that provides services in the field of information technology. Before joining Walder Wyss, he gained working experience as a trainee in a leading law firm in Zurich, in a law firm in Bern and as a law clerk at the Commercial Court of Bern. As co-founder of a company he also gained business experience in the startup area.

Michael Kündig's professional languages are German and English. He also speaks French. He is registered with the Zurich Bar Registry and is admitted to practice in all Switzerland.

Flokk sells Espisa

Flokk AG, formerly known as Stoll Giroflex AG, a portfolio company of the Triton Fund IV, sold all shares in Espisa AG, Koblenz to Aeterna AG. Espisa has been manufacturing sophisticated plastic parts for over 40 years creating large-scale equipment using plastic injection molding.

Walder Wyss has advised Flokk AG as legal advisor in this transaction. The team was led by Urs P. Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. (NYSRE: AJG) acquires majority interest in Hesse & Partner AG

On June 11, 2018, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. announced that it has acquired a majority interest in Swiss-based Hesse & Partner AG and Hesse Consulting GmbH. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. is a global insurance brokerage and risk management services firm headquartered at in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. The firm was established in 1927 and is currently the third largest insurance broker in the world. Founded in 1997, Hesse is a commercial property/casualty broker and consultant offering coverages and risk advisor services primarily to industrial, manufacturing and construction clients with a particular specialism in the waste-to-energy industry.

Walder Wyss Ltd. has been acting as legal advisor to Arthur J. Gallagher & Co with regards to all Swiss contractual, corporate and regulatory aspects of the transaction. Tamedia is taking over the «Basler Zeitung»

Media group Tamedia purchases 100 percent of the shares in Basler Zeitung AG and is thereby taking over the «Basler Zeitung». In return Tamedia group sells its interests of 65 percent in the «Tagblatt der Stadt Zürich» to Zeitungshaus AG. Tamedia group also sells the free newspapers Furttaler» and «Rümlanger» (currently both 100 percent owned by Tamedia group) as well as its interests in «GHI» (Genève Home Information) and «Lausanne Cités» in the French-speaking part of Switzerland (currently both 50 percent owned by Tamedia group) to Zeitungshaus AG. The transactions are subject to the approval of the Competition Commission (WEKO). 

Walder Wyss acted as advisor for Tamedia group in this transaction. The Walder Wyss team included Markus Vischer (Partner, Corporate/M&A), Urs P. DPE acquires AWK Group

Deutsche Private Equity (DPE) acquires majority interest in AWK Group, one of the largest independent Swiss consulting companies for information technology and digitalization. 

Walder Wyss advised DPE on the transaction. GetYourGuide announces USD 75 million Series D financing round

GetYourGuide, the leading online marketplace for travel activities, announced a USD 75 million series D financing round led by Battery Ventures. The company’s existing investors KKR, Spark Capital, Highland Capital Partners, Nokia Growth and Sunstone Capital joined  Battery in its investment.
