Francesca Borio is an associate in the Litigation and Arbitration Team. She advises clients in commercial disputes and represents parties in both domestic and international arbitrations, before state courts as well as in enforcement proceedings and legal assistance matters.
Francesca Borio’s expertise covers complex cases involving different jurisdictions, authorities and languages. She has acted as counsel on various contractual and commercial disputes, with a particular emphasis on construction, agency, distribution and shareholder agreements. Her expertise extends to both institutional arbitrations (including Swiss Rules, ICC and WIPO) and ad-hoc arbitrations.
Francesca Borio studied at the University of Fribourg (BLaw 2015; MLaw 2017; with the special mentions «European Law» and «bilingual» [German-French]) as well as at the Center for Transnational Legal Studies (CTLS) in London (Certificate in Transnational Legal Studies, 2015).
During her studies she worked as a student research assistant for Prof. Franz Werro at the Chair of the law of obligations and private European Law at the University of Fribourg. Prior to joining Walder Wyss as an attorney at law, she worked as a trainee lawyer at the Civil Court of the canton of Basel-Stadt, at the Basel and Lugano offices of Walder Wyss and at a legal protection insurance company. Francesca Borio was admitted to the bar in 2019 in the Canton of Basel-Stadt.
Francesca Borio's speaks German, English, Italian and French. She is registered with the Zurich Bar Registry and admitted to practice in all Swiss courts.
