Reto Vonzun is a partner at Walder Wyss since 2014 and he heads its Basel Office. His practice focuses mainly on corporate and commercial law, M&A, private equity and venture capital transactions. As co-author of the Zurich Commentary on the Simple Partnership (art. 530–551 CO) he is also recognized as one of Switzerland's leading scholars and practitioners in the area of partnership law. Finally, Reto Vonzun acts for various medium-sized and larger companies and their executive management as the "point of first entry", advises them on all legal matters related to their daily operations and organizes for them a timely handling of their requests by other specialists. In his fields of expertise, he also represents his clients in litigation.

Born in 1972, Reto Vonzun studied at the Universitiy of Basel (lic. iur. 1997; Dr. iur. 2000) and received his master's degree in American law from the Boston University School of Law (LL.M. 2001). He started his professional career in the legal department at Swatch-Group (1997) and worked as research assistant at the law faculty of the University of Basel (1997–2000). After various internships at courts and a law firm, Reto Vonzun was admitted to the bar in 2003 and worked during nine years (2005–2014) as a lawyer for a leading Swiss law firm (2011–2014 as a partner) with offices in Basel, Zurich and Bern.

BioVersys CHF 5.5 Mio. Series A Round

Walder Wyss advises BioVersys AG, Basel, on its Extended Series A financing Round. The financing round amounts to CHF 5.5 mio. was subscribed by existing shareholders.

The Walder Wyss teams consisted of Alexander Gutmans (Partner, Corporate Venture Capital, Life Sciences), Reto Vonzun (Partner, Corporate) and Ayesha Curmally (Partner, notarial services).


Bayer sells Diabetes Care business

The Bayer group has sold its Diabetes Care business to Panasonic Healthcare Holdings Co., Ltd. The total consideration for this transaction, which includes blood glucose monitoring systems and lancing devices for people with diabetes, is around one billion Euros (JPY 132 billion). The Diabetes Care business will now operate as a stand-alone company named Ascensia Diabetes Care Holdings based in Basel, Switzerland.

Walder Wyss comprehensively advised the Bayer (Schweiz) AG and the Bayer Consumer AG regarding the Swiss law aspects of this transaction. The team was led by Alexander Gutmans (Partner, Corporate/M&A) und Philippe Nordmann (Partner, Employment) and also included Reto Vonzun (Partner, Corporate/M&A), Dirk Spacek (Associate, IP/IT), Fabian Looser (Associate, Employment), Christine Scherrer (Associate, IP/IT), David M. Hill (Associate, Employment) und Janine Corti (Associate, Tax).


Acquisition and Refinancing of Boost Holding Ltd.

On 31 July 2015, Cleanwood First Ltd. acquired from the Swiss private equity company Invision its participation in Boost Holding Ltd. Cleanwood First Ltd. is an investment vehicle of the entrepreneur Michael Reinwald. The Boost Group is a leading provider of point-of-sale marketing services and loyalty programs with 260 employees, activities in sixteen countries and yearly revenues of more than EUR 100 m.

Walder Wyss acted as legal advisor to Cleanwood First Ltd. on the M&A transaction and to Boost Holding AG on its refinancing. The team was led by Reto Vonzun (M&A, Partner) and Luc Defferrard (Banking Finance, Partner) and further included Robert von Rosen (M&A, Managing Associate), Martina Nüesch (Banking Finance, Associate), Dan Schmelzer (Banking Finance, Associate) and Manuel Mohler (Notarial Services, Associate). In the course of this transaction, Reto Vonzun was also elected to the Board of Directors of Cleanwood First Ltd. and of Boost Holding Ltd.
