Simone Wetzstein is Co-Head of the Employment, Incentives, Mobility & Pensions team at Walder Wyss. For more than a decade, she has advised domestic and international companies, public sector employers and senior executives on all aspects of individual and collective employment law. She supports clients throughout the employment lifecycle, from recruitment and the design of modern employment terms and compensation structures to restructurings, business transfers, collective redundancies and terminations. International companies and leading law firms regularly turn to Simone as their Swiss counsel for complex employment law matters.

A key focus of Simone's practice is global mobility. Her core areas of expertise include cross-border employment models, work and residence permits, Employer of Record and other flexible workforce arrangements, as well as the related social security aspects. She also has extensive experience advising on the employment law aspects of domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, particularly in connection with TUPE, as well as complex reorganisations and the harmonisation of global HR structures.

Simone also regularly advises companies on strategic and reputationally sensitive HR matters and conducts internal investigations involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, bullying and compliance-related misconduct. She frequently advises executive management teams and boards of directors in complex decision-making processes and is known for delivering pragmatic, commercially sound and legally robust solutions.

Simone studied law at the Universities of Zurich and Haifa with the support of the Swiss Study Foundation (Schweizerische Studienstiftung). After qualifying as an attorney in 2013, she earned an LL.M. from Columbia Law School in New York as a Fulbright Scholar, specialising in discrimination law and mediation. She is a Certified Specialist SBA Employment Law, regularly publishes and speaks on employment law topics, and teaches in the CAS Best Practice in Employment Law programme at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW).

Simone has been with Walder Wyss since 2013. Prior to joining the firm, she completed her legal traineeship at a leading commercial law firm in Zurich and at the Administrative Court of the Canton of Aargau. She works in German and English and also speaks French and Hebrew. She is admitted to the Zurich Bar and authorised to practise throughout Switzerland.

Outside her professional life, Simone is the mother of three children. This important role is central to her life and shapes her pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to the diverse challenges of today's workplace.
