Frédéric Barth is an associate in the Litigation and Arbitration Team. He advises clients in commercial disputes and represents parties in both domestic and international arbitrations, before state courts as well as in enforcement proceedings and legal assistance matters.

Frédéric studied at the University of St. Gallen (B.A. in Law & Economics 2017) with an exchange semester at the University of Queensland, Australia, and at the University of Basel (MLaw 2019, summa cum laude). He was admitted to the bar in 2021 in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. In 2023, he furthermore obtained an LL.M. with a specialization in international law from the University of Cambridge where he studied on a full scholarship provided by Trinity College (Volterra Fietta Prize for International Investment Law, George Long Prize for Jurisprudence, Lizette Bentwich Prize, Examination Prize of Trinity College).

During his studies, he worked as a research assistant for Prof. Markus Müller-Chen at the Chair for Private and Private International Law at the University of St. Gallen and for today’s Federal Supreme Court Justice Prof. Julia Hänni at the University of Lucerne. Prior to joining Walder Wyss as an attorney, he worked as a trainee lawyer at the Civil Court and the Court of Appeals of Basel-Stadt and at the Basel office of Walder Wyss. He was also a law clerk at the Court of Appeals of Basel-Stadt and a civil servant at the Federal Commission against Racism in Bern.

Frédéric practices in German and English; he also speaks French.
