Merens Derungs is an attorney in Walder Wyss’s Corporate/M&A team in Zurich. He specializes in private M&A and private equity transactions. A particular focus of his practice is venture capital, advising founders and investors on financing rounds, exits, and employee share plans. Drawing on his experience as a fintech founder, he also advises on tokenization, digital assets, and blockchain projects.

After completing his studies in law and economics at the University of St. Gallen (M.A. HSG, 2017), he obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Zurich in 2024 on share tokens. Based on his Ph.D., he founded a spin-off that develops a platform for the tokenization of startup shares, gaining first-hand experience as a founder. Merens publishes regularly in his areas of expertise and has been a lecturer in private law at the University of Zurich since 2019.

Merens’ professional languages are German and English; he also speaks French. He is admitted to the Zurich Bar and entitled to practice throughout Switzerland.
